U14 Girls White Win Division 8-1-1

AC United U14 Girls White won their final game on Saturday, November 19th to win the Inter-County Soccer League (ICSL) U14 Girls Division 4 for 2016. Though the season started with an 0-2 loss, the girls were committed to not remaining in last place. For the past ten weeks, the girls would come together to practice twice a week to prepare for Saturday games. They finished the season with an 8-1-1 record, including four shut-outs, thee of which came in the last three games.

Many of the players have been together on the soccer team for several years. So for them, it is more than just playing a game. They have bonded as an extended family. The team is an opportunity to learn many life lessons. At the season's end they have seen the fruits of their labor. Through perseverance, dedication and hard work, they learned that they can achieve amazing accomplishments. They also learned not to retreat in the face of adversity. They have learned to view defeat as an opportunity for growth and to win with humility. Concussions, sprains and fractures along with bumps and bruises all served to build their character.

The girls dedicated their win to their former coach, Steve Heintz, who is the past president of AC United. The team strives to honor the game and their past coach by emulating his character. Steve is known for treating players, opposing coaches, officials, and parents the way we were taught to treat each other - with respect, humility, and kindness.AA
