Our goal is to have each and every Division III player learn, progress, and love soccer in a safe, fun, yet highly competitive environment.  The Division III program shall provide an unbiased rating system that evaluates a player’s skills level and to select players solely on those evaluations, in order to select the best  possible team per age group for the PROGRAM.

The Division III Directors shall have a CABINET  consisting of all Division III head coaches.  Together, the Division III Directors and the CABINET shall organize, promote, change, implement, and/or modify the PROGRAM in order to help AYSL participants develop into highly skilled soccer players and exceptionally talented and successful teams.

It is required that the minimum level of licensing for a Division III head coach shall be a CYSA E/D class license.  It is required that the minimum level of licensing for a Division III assistant coach shall be a CYSA F class license.

Each coach must submit a Division III coaching application to the Division III Directors by March 15 of each year.  This is to ensure that coaches have adequate time to prepare for tryouts, which commence during the spring AYSL season.  The deadline also ensures that the Division III Directors will have an appropriate amount of time to meet with the CABINET, in order to plan, change, organize, and implement any and all PROGRAM goals, philosophies, procedures, and/or policies.

Coaches from a previous season still need to apply.

The Division III Directors will choose each head coach based on the following criteria:

  1. LiveScan/Fingerprinting/Meagan’s Law results
  2. Licensing
  3. Experience
  4. Philosophy
  5. Relationship with players and parents (feedback)

The CABINET, prior to each season, shall discuss and decide what core  focus areas of skills, concepts, and team play each gender and age group  should focus on.  For example, Girls U12 may focus on, but not limited to, the areas of communication, spacing, and wall passes.

The Division III PROGRAM usually has extra costs.  Some of these  costs are tournament fees, warm-ups, shirts, practice shirts, sweatshirts, equipment, and traveling expenses.  Prior to each season, the CABINET shall decide the overall costs for each Division III team.  It is the responsibility of each head coach to ensure all players can afford the costs, whether through fundraising or other means.

It is the goal of the Division III PROGRAM to ensure that all Division III players are able to play, no matter what the costs.
